Czwarte już uwolnienie - dzień drugi // The fourth release - day two

Jeszcze dobrze nie opadły emocje po pierwszym dniu a my już szykowaliśmy się na przybycie kolejnych orangutanów. W tej grupie znalazły się po raz pierwszy rehabilitowane osobniki, tj. takie, które wychowane zostały przez ludzi i uczyły się w Nyaru Menteng jak radzić sobie w lesie. Dotychczas uwolnione przez nas orangutany w większości trafiły do Centrum, gdy były już niezależne i w mniejszym lub większym stopniu w chwili uwolnienia pamiętały jak sobie w lesie radzić, pomimo lat spędzonych w zamknięciu. Te, na wpół wciąż dzikie orangutany, zwykle świetnie sobie w lesie radzą, a nas ludzi nie lubią i starają się unikać. Rehabilitowane osobniki to zupełnie inna bajka. Jako, że miały z ludźmi wiele do czynienia, wiedzą że są od nas szybsze, sprawniejsze i silniejsze, słowem nie boją się nas w cale. Mało tego, lubią nasze towarzystwo gdyż, raz, ich opiekunki były dla nich jak matki a dwa, kojarzą nas z regularnymi dostawami pokarmu.

W związku z powyższym to czwarte uwolnienie, a zwłaszcza drugi dzień były dla nas wszystkich nowym doświadczeniem. Przygotowywaliśmy się do niego długo i intensywnie nie tylko przez ostatnie 2 miesiące, ale tak naprawdę od początku projektu.

Jak to się wszystko odbyło? Poniżej foto-relacja z uwolnienia pięciu samic z młodymi: Chanel z Charliem, Sif z Sifą, Leonory z Lamarem, Gadis z Garu oraz Emen z Embongiem a także samców: Mentenga, Terusana i Jamiata.

Poniżej zdjęcia zrobione przez Indrę. Terusan jest moim pierwszym własnoręcznie uwolnionym orangutanem. Ahh świetne uczucie!!! Zdjęć kilka cobyście mieli pełny obraz przebiegu wydarzeń ;). Trafił mi się szybki samiec co zresztą zdjęcia świetnie oddają. W ułamku sekundy był na drzewie :). Na zdjęciach poza Terusanem i mną Lone, Maryos i Graham.

Second day of release was equally if not evan more exciting. In this group which was about to arrive to Batikap were, for the first time, rehabilitated individuals, i.e. those that have been raised by humans and taught at the Nyaru Menteng how to cope in the natural environment. So far we have released only semi-wild orangutans, these who at the time they came to the Centre were already independent and  more or less remembered a lot about the forest despite years spent in captivity. These semi-wild orangutans usually doing just great in their new home plus they do not like people and try to avoid us. Rehabilitated individuals are a completely different story. Obviously rehabs have a lot more to do with people. They know that they are faster and stronger, thus they are not afraid of us at all. Not only that, they aslo like our company because at first they were raised by humans and second they associate us with a regular food supplies.

Accordingly, the fourth release and especially the second day was a new experience for all of us. We have been preparing for this day for a long time, not only for the past two months, but it fact since the beginning of the project.

How did it all go? Above you can find photos from the release of five females with their young: Chanel with Charlie, Sif with Sifa, Leonora with Lamar, Gadis with Garu and Emen with Embong as well as males: Menteng, Terusana and Jamiat.

There are also few photos of me opening the cage and releasing my VERY FIRST orangutan. Great feeling have to say! Terusan happened to be extra fast and within a second he was already up the tree. Apart of Terusan and me there are also Lone, Maryos and Graham on this photos.
